The project was never formally cancelled. It remains a sanctioned project in Railway records, but work has been suspended since 2018-19 pending a cost-sharing agreement with the Kerala government. Suspension and cancellation are not the same thing.

All Kerala railway stations now have lifts for disabled passengers.
